COVID-19 pandemic boosts e-commerce as more consumers shop online to purchase temperature-sensitive goods such as meat, fruits, seafood, resulted in an increasing need of temperature-controlled delivery service. With the raising concern of food safety and quality by the consumers, the industry has to improve their quality standard so as to improve consumer trust and avoid food safety risks.
“ISO 23412:2020 - Indirect, temperature-controlled refrigerated delivery services — Land transport of parcels with intermediate transfer” was published in May 2020. It aims to be a guideline for refrigerated and delivery service providers to support consumer safety through a total control of the cold chain while the refrigerated parcel is in possession of the refrigerated delivery service provider.
